The firm has defended hundreds of matters for several municipal agencies in the areas of tort claims and Civil Rights Act cases. These include a recent jury trial in which LDGR obtained a complete victory for the municipality in a case alleging police brutality, and numerous summary judgment decisions in favor of the firm's municipal clients.
The firm's attorneys have served as Corporation Counsel for a large city. In that capacity, LDGR counseled the Mayor, the City Council, and City department directors on legal matters. The firm also prepared ordinances and resolutions, reviewed all legal documents to which the City was a party, supervised and directed the work of all special counsel retained by the City, and investigated and prosecuted disciplinary proceedings against City employees. LDGR also handled the City's lawsuits, including condemnation and redevelopment challenges, and recently won a major appeal for the City. The firm has also appeared before the Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control with respect to liquor license violations, and represented the City's interests in other matters before the Office of Administrative Law.
The firm has also represented a board of adjustment in Bergen County, and has served as special land use counsel to townships in Somerset, Essex and Gloucester Counties. In addition, LDGR attorneys have served as Municipal Public Defenders in two municipalities.
