Ms. Alvarez focuses her practice on public entity law, specifically municipal tort liability defense and police-related civil rights defense. She also focuses on complex commercial and class action litigation. Ms. Alvarez has participated in successful motions before the New Jersey Superior Court and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. In addition, she has participated in appeals to the Appellate Division of the New Jersey Superior Court.
Before joining the firm, Ms. Alvarez was a Presidential Scholar at Seton Hall Law School, and she received the Raymond Del Tufo, Jr. Constitutional Law Award upon graduation. During law school, Ms. Alvarez was a law clerk at the Seton Hall Center for Social Justice, Equal Justice Clinic, where she assisted in appealing the adoption and amendment of regulations by the Department of Human Services, Division of Medical Assistance and Health Services. She served as editor for the Seton Hall Legislative Journal and co-president of the Latin American Law Students Association. Ms. Alvarez worked as a research assistant for Dean Kathleen M. Boozang on various health law topics including nonprofit tax exemption law. She also authored an article that was published by Seton Hall Law School’s Health Reform Watch website regarding the Third Circuit’s recognition that a federal civil rights action exists for victims of substandard nursing home care.
